May Momentum Challenge (4/28-5/31)

I've been feeling more than a little frustrated about my weight loss goals lately. It just feels that I'm stuck in an endless loop of the 160s, getting all the way down to 160 lbs and then right back up to 165 after just a few days of eating outside of my plan. I am tired of it, and I need the momentum of making some quick progress in order to remain motivated.

I think I'm feeling extra discouraged because we're almost at the six-month point in the year (June is around the corner!) and I have no measurable progress to show for it. I know that my clothes fit better because I have indeed built some muscle and lost some fat, but I want the scale to move.

So I'm going to commit to going extra hard for the month of May. I have three primary concerns: wellness, financial stability, and hair. I'm only going to share my wellness concerns here because I feel less comfortable talking about my finances on a public blog (even one with no readers lol) and I think that I've already shared enough about my hair.

What I'm doing to accelerate progress in May:

  • Under 150g of carbs per day
  • Run 1 mile

  • 1650 calorie limit

  • 90 oz of water daily

  • 150 lb weight goal

I know all of the conventional wisdom states that you shouldn't do something like lower carb just to get a quick, likely temporary loss, but you know what? I really need a win right now. I really want to see the scale move like it has in the past whenever I do something like the Whole 30 diet or even low carb diets like the one I'll be doing now.

Starting weight this morning: 165.6 on 4/28/2025
Goal weight: 150 lbs so 15.6 lbs to go and 33 days
